Stadium construction projects in Romania
Overview
Major sports infrastructure projects in Romania continue to progress. In Hunedoara, the construction permit for the new Corvinul 1921 stadium has been issued following the contract for the demolition of the old arena. The new project, valued at 54 million euros, is managed by the National Investment Company and includes a 25 percent contribution from the Hunedoara City Hall.
In Pitești, construction of the Nicolae Dobrin sports complex is accelerating. This UEFA Category 4 stadium, valued at over 374 million lei, is designed to accommodate 15,200 spectators under a full roof and will utilize green energy. The structural framework is expected to be finished by the end of 2026.
In Brașov, the National Investment Company has signed a contract for the new Tineretului Stadium, a 30 million euro project expected to hold nearly 10,000 spectators with completion projected between 2029 and 2030.
New developments have emerged in Constanța, where work is set to begin on the Gheorghe Hagi Stadium. Estimated at 500 million lei, the UEFA Category IV facility will feature an 18,190-seat capacity, training facilities, a conference center, and commercial spaces. Additionally, Timișoara is inaugurating the Costică Rădulescu sports base, which includes a football pitch and a multi-functional court for handball and basketball.
