Cosimo Latronico reacts to Pope Leo's speech in Rimini

Cosimo Latronico, the Basilicata Regional Councilor for Health, has commented on the speech delivered by Pope Leo during his visit to the Meeting of Communion and Liberation in Rimini.

Latronico emphasized the Pope's message regarding the necessity of inner conversion as a prerequisite for genuine social change. Referencing Saint Augustine, the Councilor noted that changing the world requires individuals to begin with themselves. He highlighted that addressing the common good, particularly in healthcare and personal care, requires overcoming selfishness and indifference to open oneself to others.

Furthermore, Latronico addressed the Pope's emphasis on the value of community and the role of youth. Invoking the teachings of Saint John Paul II, he noted the importance of communion, which begins with friendship and mutual respect. He suggested that institutional commitments to caring for the most fragile individuals should be viewed not merely as bureaucratic tasks, but as acts of charity and social cohesion aimed at building a more equitable society.
