Pope Leo XIV visit to Rimini and San Marino

Overview

Pope Francis, referred to in reports as Pope Leo XIV, is scheduled to visit Rimini, Italy, and San Marino on August 22 for the Meeting organized by Comunione e Liberazione. The itinerary includes a stop in San Marino to meet with authorities and visit the Basilica, followed by a trip to the Rimini Fair. During the visit, the Pope is expected to address participants at the Grand Auditorium and meet with the sick, disabled, and impoverished at the Tempio Malatestiano.

A mass is scheduled to be held at the Rimini port, which is reported to be already sold out. To manage the influx of tens of thousands of visitors, authorities have implemented a major security plan, including strict restrictions in San Marino’s historic center and the establishment of red and buffer zones in Rimini’s Marina Centro.

Preparations are currently in a “Pre-Meeting” phase. Approximately 500 volunteers, including students from cities such as Milan, Bologna, and Ferrara, are working to set up 140,000 square meters of exhibition space. This workforce is engaged in assembling structures, painting panels, and installing electrical systems under the guidance of adult coordinators and professional staff.
