Costa del Sol beaches reopen after bacterial contamination cleared
The east‑coast beaches of Marbella – El Cable, Río Real and Los Monteros – were closed to swimming after tests detected fecal bacteria. New analyses by the Málaga health delegation confirmed that microbiological parameters are now within the limits set by regulations, allowing the temporary precautionary ban to be lifted.
Similarly, the Atlanterra beach in the municipality of Tarifa was closed after elevated levels of Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci were found. Follow‑up sampling on 23‑24 July showed the water quality has returned to acceptable levels, and the Andalusian Health Authority authorized bathing again, despite the source of the contamination remaining unidentified.
