Costa Rica goods exports reach $13.8 billion through July 2026

Costa Rica’s goods exports grew by 5% between January and July 2026, reaching a total of $13.821 billion. This represents an increase of $683 million compared to the same period in 2025, according to data from the Foreign Trade Corporation of Costa Rica (PROCOMER).

Medical devices remain the nation’s leading export sector, generating $6.399 billion in sales. The agricultural sector followed with $2.371 billion, while the food industry contributed $1.707 billion. Notably, banana exports saw a 10% increase, driven by successful market diversification into the European Union and Algeria.

Geographically, Asia saw the highest percentage growth at 31%, surpassing $1 billion in exports, while Europe grew by 10%. Regarding trade regimes, Free Trade Zones accounted for approximately 67% of total exports, contributing $9.309 billion.
