Costa Rica to host international youth surfing and triathlon events

Costa Rica is expanding its role as a host for international youth sporting events through new partnerships and sanctioned competitions.

The National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) has launched the NSSA Central America and Puerto Rico Conference. In strategic alliance with the Costa Rican Surfing Federation (FSCR), the NSSA will host five tournament dates in Costa Rica to encourage surfing among athletes under 21. The competition schedule includes events in Playa Jacó (November 2026), Playa Santa Teresa (December 2026), and locations in Guanacaste such as Tamarindo or Playa Hermosa (February 2027).

Additionally, Playa Cieneguita in Limón is scheduled to host the World Triathlon Development Regional Cup Limón 2026 on October 25. This sanctioned event focuses on elite talent aged 16 to 23, featuring delegations from Mexico, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala. The event aims to bolster international rankings for participants and promote sports tourism in the Limón province.
