Costa Rica's Centro de Cine announces Goya Awards call and film programming

The Costa Rican Center for Film and Audiovisual Arts (Centro de Cine), under the Ministry of Culture and Youth, has announced several initiatives to promote national and international cinema.

A call for entries has been opened to select the official Costa Rican representative for the Best Ibero-American Film category at the 41st Goya Awards. Producers of feature films released in Costa Rica between November 1, 2025, and December 31, 2026, are eligible to apply before the August 14 deadline.

Additionally, the Centro de Cine is hosting various film programming events. The “Memoria viva” series will present the documentaries “Tatamundo” and “Mariana Pineda” on August 16. Meanwhile, the “Preámbulo” series will feature a retrospective of French filmmaker Claire Simon starting August 19, followed by a “Double Brazil and the Oscar” special on August 22, showcasing Brazilian productions.
