Costa Tropical beaches near full occupancy as August holidays begin

The Costa Tropical shoreline is experiencing almost full crowds, with beach occupancy estimated at around 90% for the first weekend of August. Hotels along the coast report occupancy rates between 80% and 90%, driven by last‑minute bookings and travelers heading to second homes or holiday resorts.

Jesús Megías, president of the Costa Tropical hoteliers association, noted that July matched the previous year’s performance and that August is following the same trend, though overall figures are 5‑10% below last year’s levels. The region is also hosting a series of festivals, including the Tropicalia terrace in Salobreña, the Sexi Fest in Almuñécar, and upcoming patron saint celebrations in Motril and Almuñécar.
