Overview
In late July and early August 2026 Spain’s coastal holiday market was approaching full capacity. Data from the eBooking platform showed that major seaside destinations such as Marbella, Santander, Benidorm, Salou, Puerto de la Cruz and Palma de Mallorca were between 95 % and 99 % booked for the first weekend of August, with an overall average occupancy of 95.6 % across hotels, hostels, apartments and campsites.
A similar pattern was observed on the Costa Tropical shoreline, where beach crowds and hotel bookings reached roughly 80 %–90 % occupancy. Although the region’s figures were 5 %–10 % below the previous year, the trend mirrored the national surge, driven by last‑minute domestic travel and a slate of local festivals.
Both snapshots illustrate a strong domestic tourism season that is sustaining record‑high demand across Spain’s coastal resorts and the Costa Tropical area as the August holiday period begins.
