Council of Higher Education highlights university tech and digital education

The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has highlighted several significant academic and technological developments within Turkish universities. Notably, the Gökbörü Aerospace and Space Team from Istanbul Technical University won first place in the Liquid Fuel Rocket Engine Development Competition at TEKNOFEST 2026, successfully conducting ignition tests for their “Bangu” engine.

In a separate educational initiative, YÖK is transforming its Data Analysis School into the “Digital University Platform.” This platform will offer free, open-access online training in artificial intelligence, data analysis, and sustainability. Led by Marmara University and Yıldız Technical University, with academic support from Boğaziçi, Istanbul Technical, and Middle East Technical Universities, the program includes 16 modules covering topics such as machine learning, biostatistics, and clean energy technologies.

Additionally, former NASA aerospace engineer and entrepreneur Aisha Bowe visited Çukurova University. During the event, she shared her professional experiences in space research and STEM education with students, focusing on her work regarding microgravity research and human health.
