Courts issue sentences for murder in Netherlands and fatal hunting accident in Poland

In the Netherlands, a court in The Hague has sentenced 43-year-old Theo G. to 15 years in prison for the murder of his former partner in Katwijk. The crime occurred on April 7, 2023, when the defendant fatally stabbed the 35-year-old woman 30 times. Investigators found evidence of premeditation, including a suicide note and digital searches regarding anatomy. In addition to the murder conviction, Theo G. was sentenced for possessing 6,255 pieces of child pornography, leading the court to mandate compulsory psychiatric treatment (tbs). He was also ordered to pay 20,000 euros in compensation to the victim's family.

In Poland, the Szczecin District Court has sentenced Stanisław H. to 2 years and 10 months in prison for the accidental killing of a soldier. The incident occurred in November 2023 when the defendant and an accomplice entered a tactical training area without permission to hunt wild boar. Stanisław H. fired a single shot, mistakenly believing he was targeting an animal, but instead fatally wounded a soldier. The court noted that the defendants fled the scene immediately after the shot rather than checking the target, with the judge remarking that the defendant failed to verify what he was shooting at.
