UK CPAC conference warns of looming financial crisis as Andy Burnham prepares to become PM

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held its first British edition at London's InterContinental hotel. Attendance was low, with about a hundred people on the final day and no overt Trump branding.

Former prime minister Liz Truss, speaking on the third day, warned that the country could be "headed for a financial crisis" under incoming Labour leader Andy Burnham, who is set to form a government on Monday. She linked the threat to migration issues, debt and stagnation.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage was the headline speaker, denouncing what he called "Broken Britain" and citing rising national debt and welfare spending as problems. Major Conservative figures, including Kemi Badenoch, stayed away, and the event largely focused on Reform UK's platform.

The British CPAC lacked the costumes, hats and MAGA merchandise typical of its US counterpart, reflecting the different political climate across the Atlantic.
