CPI (M) seeks age relaxation for Andaman and Nicobar departmental candidates
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has requested a five-year upper age relaxation for qualified departmental candidates in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The demand was made in a letter sent to the Lieutenant Governor by D. Ayyappan, Secretary of the CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee.
The request concerns candidates with at least three years of service in Group C posts, such as MTS and Mazdoor, who are eligible for earmarked Lower Grade Clerk (LGC) positions within the Amalgamated Clerical Cadre. The party noted that the administration has not filled these earmarked posts for the last seven years, preventing qualified candidates from participating in recruitment examinations.
According to the CPI (M), many eligible candidates have become over-aged during this period of inactivity since 2019. The party argued that since the administration has previously granted age relaxations for recruitment following the Covid pandemic, similar consideration should be given to these departmental employees to ensure they have a fair chance at promotion.
