CPI (M) political activities in Andaman and Nicobar

Overview

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has called for a suspension of the electoral roll revision process for Panchayat and Municipal Council elections in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

In a letter to the Election Commissioner for Union Territories, the party requested that the process remain pending until the Supreme Court examines the legality of the appointment of Election Commissioners of India, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), and the revised Form 6. The CPI (M) raised concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision conducted for the Parliamentary Constituency during 2025-26, noting that 64,014 electors, including 9,191 recorded deaths, were excluded from the rolls following the revision.
