CPI(M) challenges Congress over Kerala election accusations before India Block meeting

Ahead of the India Block meeting scheduled for 8 June, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) sent a letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge protesting allegations made during the Kerala assembly election campaign that CPI(M) had a secret deal with the BJP and that former chief minister Pinray Vijayan was involved. Party secretary MA Baby wrote that the accusations “threaten the unity and purpose of the India Block” and called for a clear response, reminding that CPI(M) has contributed to the opposition front since the 2023 Patna meeting.

CPI leader D Raja later responded to reports of a DMK boycott, saying the DMK “publicly said they have issues with Congress and will not attend” the meeting. He clarified that CPI(M) had received the invitation and would participate. Baby reiterated that despite the letter of displeasure, the party remains committed to the India Block’s joint struggle against the government.
