CPI(M) reshuffles Kerala leadership and implements corrective measures

The Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPI(M), is implementing significant organisational changes and corrective measures across Kerala following three consecutive electoral defeats in the 2024 Lok Sabha, local body, and 2026 Assembly elections.

At the state level, the party has expanded its state secretariat to 20 members. New inductees include P Jayarajan, V Sivankutty, and MB Rajesh, while Central Committee members TM Thomas Isaac and TP Ramakrishnan have been removed from the secretariat. The state secretariat will include state secretary M V Govindan and former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The party is now extending this corrective process to the district level. Expanded district committee meetings are scheduled to be completed by October 17 to assess leadership performance and address organisational shortcomings. These meetings may lead to district-level reorganisations. To ensure accountability, the party plans to implement periodic reviews, with state-level assessments occurring every six months and implementation reviews every three months.
