The Province of Córdoba has joined a national protocol to block mobile devices within its provincial prison system. Following ENACOM Resolution 7354/2026, the province can now request the simultaneous blocking of a device's IMEI, IMSI, and associated phone line when detected in correctional facilities.

This comprehensive blocking mechanism differs from previous methods that only allowed for the disabling of a specific device or SIM card, as it prevents inmates from reusing hardware by simply swapping components. The measure was instructed by the Minister of Justice and Labor, Julián López, and aims to strengthen control mechanisms in coordination with national authorities.

Requests for these blocks will be processed through the National Ministry of Security, which acts as the intermediary with mobile service providers. This move follows warnings from prosecutor Lucas Moyano, who noted that unrestricted access to smartphones and digital wallets in prisons facilitates cybercrime, identity theft, and the coordination of drug trafficking networks.
