Córdoba and Santa Fe secure $65 million for biprovincial aqueduct

The provinces of Córdoba and Santa Fe have secured a $65 million international loan from the OPEC Fund for International Development to finance a strategic section of a joint biprovincial aqueduct. The credit will be split equally between the two jurisdictions, with each assuming $32.5 million in debt. The funds are designated for the execution of 'Block D', which includes various branches intended to provide potable water to approximately 87,800 inhabitants in locations such as Colonia Belgrano, San Martín de las Escobas, and others.

To operationalize the loan, provincial legislatures must pass laws authorizing the credit, and the national government must sign the corresponding guarantee. Funds will be disbursed directly to contractors based on verified work progress.

In Córdoba, the construction sector is showing signs of stability and growth. According to IERIC data from May, there has been a 10% year-on-year increase in construction labor. Horacio Berra, president of the Córdoba Delegation of the Argentine Chamber of Construction, noted that the province's infrastructure development is driven by public-private articulation and consistent policy, serving as a model for other regions.
