San Justo investigation: 6-year-old boy dies of asphyxiation

An investigation is underway in San Justo, Santa Fe, following the death of 6-year-old Izan Aguirre. A preliminary autopsy conducted by the Santa Fe Forensic Medical Corps has confirmed that the child died of asphyxiation.

Authorities have detained the child's 22-year-old mother, R. M., on preventive detention. Regional prosecutor Jorge Nessier indicated that initial evidence suggests the mother may bear responsibility for the incident, though the investigation remains open to other possibilities.

A key piece of evidence involves long hairs found in the child's hand during an initial medical examination at the San Justo Samco. Investigators are analyzing these hairs to determine if they indicate a struggle or physical resistance prior to death.

Prosecutor Daniela Montegrosso has ordered several forensic measures, including the analysis of seized electronic devices and cell phones to reconstruct the child's final hours. The case is currently being treated as a potential homicide or infanticide.
