Córdoba launches cemetery tourism route to boost cultural visits

The provincial tourism agency of Córdoba will officially unveil the "Camino Turístico de Cementerios Cordobeses" on 30 July in the city’s Museo Tamburini, coinciding with the opening of the XV Jornadas Argentinas de Gestión y Valoración Patrimonial de Cementerios. The new itinerary will link cemeteries across the province that already offer guided heritage tours, creating a network that invites municipalities and communes to add their necropolises to the official route.

The project seeks to diversify Córdoba’s tourism offer by highlighting the historic, architectural and artistic value of these sites, which are presented as open‑air museums preserving community memory. Agency head Darío Capitani noted that the initiative will strengthen local identity and generate new economic opportunities, echoing the growing international trend of necrotourism. «Este camino invita a descubrir parte de nuestra historia desde una mirada diferente, fortaleciendo la identidad de cada comunidad», he said.
