Córdoba ramps up night road repairs as residents decry persistent potholes

The municipal government of Córdoba and the provincial authorities are carrying out night‑time works to repave about one kilometre of Avenida Colón, between Domingo Zipoli and Avenida Sagrada Familia. The work, part of an Integral Road Repair Plan that includes 30 active fronts across the city, is being done with partial traffic closures to minimise disruption on one of the capital’s busiest corridors.

Six months after mayor Manuel Alonso Cerezo took office, neighbourhood residents have staged protests, saying that potholes have multiplied with recent rains and that many streets remain unsafe for drivers, motorcyclists and pedestrians. Citizens report having to fill holes with debris themselves, only for the material to be washed away again. They demand that the municipal budget be used to fix the infrastructure rather than announce new projects.

The contrasting actions illustrate the city’s effort to address road deterioration while public frustration over the speed and effectiveness of those repairs continues to grow.
