South American regions implement water and drainage infrastructure projects

Various regional governments in South America are implementing infrastructure projects to manage water resources and climate risks. In Argentina, the Córdoba government has launched several initiatives, including drainage works in the La Francia rural basins to prevent flooding and improvements to the potable water system in Cerro Colorado. Additionally, the Municipality of Colón is advancing its Integral Storm Drainage Plan, specifically targeting the Salta Basin to increase water evacuation capacity during heavy rains.

In Uruguay, urban water and drainage infrastructure is shifting toward a more flexible programmatic approach. This evolution aims to integrate technical networks with public spaces, such as green areas and pedestrian corridors, to enhance urban resilience and citizen interaction.

In Colombia, President Abelardo De La Espriella announced that $380 billion pesos will be allocated to the Córdoba department for recovery efforts following a cold front emergency. These funds, sourced from the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, are intended to assist families and restore areas affected by the weather event.
