Córdoba dog attacks leave one child dead and another critically injured

A series of violent dog attacks in Córdoba, Argentina, has caused widespread alarm. On Sunday, August 9, a three-year-old boy named Salvador was killed following an attack by a pitbull in the Villa La Lonja neighborhood. The owner of the dog and the individual responsible for its care have been charged with involuntary manslaughter by the Fiscalía de Instrucción N°10.

Two days later, a two-year-old boy named Mateo was severely injured in an attack by a Dogo Argentino in Villa Caeiro. Mateo was hospitalized in intensive care at the Hospital de Niños de Córdoba with a skull fracture and significant facial injuries. Medical teams are working to preserve his left eye, though his condition remains critical.

In the wake of the fatal attack, police conducted raids in the Suárez neighborhood to investigate the presence of dangerous animals. Residents have expressed significant fear, with some calling for the removal of dogs from the area. Authorities are continuing investigations into both incidents to determine the circumstances of the attacks and the responsibility of the animal owners.
