Greek beaches secure top global rankings in travel lists
Greek beaches have secured high rankings in several prestigious global travel lists for 2025 and 2026.
According to the World’s 50 Best Beaches and the Global Beach Index, Fteri Beach on the island of Cephalonia has been recognized as one of the world’s top destinations, noted for its turquoise waters and white cliffs. Its difficult access via boat or steep paths is cited as a factor in preserving its natural character.
In Crete, multiple locations have achieved significant recognition. Tripadvisor users ranked Elafonissi Beach second globally, highlighting its unique pink sand and shallow lagoons. Balos Lagoon also secured a top position, ranked third by Tripadvisor and 21st in the Global Beach Index. Additionally, Falassarna Beach was named 14th in the Global Beach Index. These rankings underscore Crete’s status as a premier Mediterranean destination.
