Crete Regional Committee approves €4 million for Rethymno road studies

The Crete Regional Committee has approved supplementary studies totaling 4 million euros for the South Road Axis of Southern Crete. The funding specifically targets road sections within the Rethymno regional unit, covering the stretch from Rodakino to Agia Galini, including the segments of Sellia, Lefkogia, and Akoumia.

The studies aim to complete the design of the remaining road network, including parallel and perpendicular supporting local networks. This includes finalizing technical studies at the definitive stage and conducting environmental impact assessments. Additionally, studies will address the supporting network at the entrances and exits of the planned tunnel.

This project is considered a strategic development for southern Crete, intended to improve road safety, enhance accessibility, and better connect residential, productive, and tourist areas in the Rethymno region.
