Crimea and Russian fuel networks hit by Ukrainian attacks

Ukrainian strikes on transport and energy infrastructure have deepened shortages on the Russian‑occupied Crimean peninsula. Residents report fuel scarcity, electricity outages and disrupted telecommunications, while the summer tourism season has stalled as beaches remain largely empty. The attacks, including drone hits on bridges, power facilities and maritime routes in the Azov Sea, aim to weaken Russia’s logistical support for the region.

In parallel, Ukraine has damaged a large number of Russian tankers and fuel installations. Over a dozen tankers, many carrying oil, were hit in the Azov Sea, and attacks on oil terminals in St. Petersburg, a refinery in Yaroslavl and other sites have destroyed storage tanks and refinery towers. The growing fuel crisis has sparked long queues at Russian petrol stations, occasional brawls over fuel, and concerns that the shortage could impede broader Russian mobilisation and economic stability.
