Criminal investigations launched for separate sexual assault cases in Italy

Authorities in Italy are investigating two distinct cases of sexual misconduct.

In Tuscany, the Arezzo Prosecutor's Office has concluded investigations into a 19-year-old man accused of sexual violence under article 609-bis of the penal code. The incident allegedly occurred on April 23 aboard a regional train traveling between Arezzo and San Giovanni Valdarno, where the suspect is accused of kissing a sleeping passenger on the lips without her consent.

In Brescia, the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office is investigating a long-term case involving an 18-year-old woman. The victim testified before the Brescia Juvenile Court regarding allegations that her cousin and brother subjected her to sexual violence and harassment over several years during her adolescence. The investigation follows a report initiated by a psychologist after the victim sought help for psychological distress.
