Criminal investigations launched into sexual assaults of minors in Senegal and France

Separate criminal investigations involving the sexual assault of minors have been reported in Senegal and France.

In Kaolack, Senegal, a 27-year-old man, Ibrahima T., has been accused of rape, pedophilia, and the abduction of a minor following the birth of a child to a 15-year-old girl. The girl’s family filed a complaint after an initial private financial agreement between the families was reportedly terminated. The teenager underwent a cesarean section at the El Hadji Ibrahima Niass Regional Hospital due to physical immaturity. While the suspect admitted to sexual relations, he claimed the pair were in a romantic relationship.

In Saint-Seurin-sur-l'Isle, France, three suspects—one adult and two minors—have been placed in pre-trial detention following the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl in June. Prosecutors allege the victim was intoxicated without her knowledge and that the perpetrators filmed the assault for distribution. The investigation, led by the Libourne gendarmerie, is exploring whether up to ten individuals were involved in the incident.
