Comodoro Rivadavia: Man detained for fatal shooting of friend
Leonel Sotomayor has been ordered to remain in preventive detention for four months following the fatal shooting of his friend, José Luis Nahuelmilla, in the San Martín neighborhood of Comodoro Rivadavia. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 2, during a public argument.
According to the prosecution, Sotomayor shot Nahuelmilla in the chest with a firearm, intending to kill him. A preliminary autopsy revealed that Nahuelmilla suffered two gunshot wounds—one to the leg and one to the thorax—the latter causing death via hypovolemic shock. Sotomayor reportedly surrendered to police shortly after the incident, admitting, “Fui yo” (It was me).
Judge Daniela Arcuri authorized a formal investigation for a period of six months. The prosecution has classified the crime as “homicidio agravado por el uso de arma de fuego” (aggravated homicide by use of a firearm) and cited risks of flight and witness tampering as grounds for continued detention. The defense has contested the length of the preventive detention period.
