Cristhian Pacheco wins Mexico City Marathon amid successful weekend for Peruvian sports

Peruvian athlete Cristhian Pacheco won the 43rd Mexico City International Marathon, finishing with a time of 2:10:03. He secured the victory by pulling away from the lead group after the 30-kilometer mark. The podium was completed by Ethiopians Anbesa Lencho Tesfaye in second place and Balew Yihunie Derseh in third. In the women's elite category, Ethiopia's Alemtsehay Asefa Kasegn took first place with a time of 2:29:30.

Special categories also saw winners, including Brenda Osnaya in the women's wheelchair division and Gonzalo Valdovinos in the men's wheelchair division. The event drew approximately 30,000 participants. While the race was highly competitive, no historical course records were broken during this edition.

In separate sports news, tennis player Ignacio Buse won the ATP 250 Winston-Salem title in the United States, defeating Arthur Fery in the final. This marked a significant weekend for Peruvian sports, featuring two major international victories within 24 hours.
