Pity Álvarez trial continues over 2018 homicide

The homicide trial of musician Cristian “Pity” Álvarez continues in Buenos Aires regarding the 2018 death of Cristian Díaz in Villa Lugano. The prosecution alleges Álvarez committed simple homicide after firing four shots during a confrontation in the Samoré neighborhood.

Recent court sessions included testimonies from the victim's former partner, Verónica Román, who expressed a lack of remorse from the accused, and Agustina Inbernoz, Álvarez's former partner, who testified via Zoom from the United States. Inbernoz stated that Díaz had confronted the musician and noted that she had previously discarded the firearm in a sewer.

Other witnesses, including a local taxi driver, provided details regarding the sounds of gunfire and the immediate aftermath of the incident. The court has also addressed Álvarez's conduct during the hearings, including requests for him to remove sunglasses and a decorative LED glove, as well as instances where he fell asleep during proceedings.

Upcoming sessions are expected to feature testimony from Carlos Ulises Stiempcich, a friend of the victim who witnessed the altercation, along with several neighbors from the Samoré area to reconstruct the sequence of events.
