Cristina Fernández de Kirchner thanks supporters from balcony on first anniversary of conviction

On 10 June 2025, a year after the Argentine Supreme Court reaffirmed a six‑year prison term and permanent disqualification for former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in the Vialidad corruption case, she appeared on the balcony of her home in the Constitución neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. Dozens of Peronist militants gathered at the corner of San José and Humberto Primo streets, chanting and expressing support. Fernández thanked the crowd, smiled, and remained silent on the matter, while her supporters used the rally to denounce the verdict as an "arbitrary" and "unjust" persecution. Governor Axel Kicillof and other Kirchnerist leaders echoed the criticism, calling the sentence a political intimidation. The gathering proceeded without incidents and underscores the continued mobilization around Fernández ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
