Cristina Kirchner Warned Over Flag Protest, House Arrest Remains in Force

Argentina’s Federal Oral Court 2 issued a formal admonition to former president Cristina Kirchner after a large‑scale flag display on 14 June. Militant supporters stretched a banner from a neighboring building to Kirchner’s balcony at 1111 San José in the Constitución district, closing streets and raising safety concerns. Judge Rodrigo Giménez Uriburu ruled that Kirchner actively helped install the flag, used her balcony as an anchor point, and greeted the crowd, actions deemed incompatible with the conditions of her house‑arrest regime. The court warned that any repeat could trigger a revocation of her domiciliary detention and transfer to a regular prison under article 34 of the Penal Execution Law.

A month later, on the anniversary of her detention, the same court reviewed supervisory reports and confirmed that Kirchner has generally complied with the imposed rules – maintaining the electronic monitoring, respecting visitor protocols and avoiding unauthorized entries. While the flag incident justified the warning, the judges concluded it did not constitute a breach serious enough to overturn her house arrest, and the measure remains in effect.
