Dominican MLB players achieve historic milestones and postseason success

Dominican players achieved several historic milestones during the Major League Baseball season. Cristopher Sánchez, pitching for the Philadelphia Phillies, led the National League with 18 wins. He is the first Dominican left-handed pitcher to lead the league in victories and the sixth Dominican player in MLB history to achieve this feat.

In the postseason, the Philadelphia Phillies forced a decisive Game 3 in the National League Wild Card Series by defeating the Atlanta Braves 4-3 in ten innings. Following an early deficit, the Phillies rallied with home runs from Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper, before Alec Bohm secured the win with a solo shot in the tenth inning.

Offensively, Miami Marlins shortstop Otto López finished the season with 189 hits, becoming the eighth Dominican to lead the league in hits. Additionally, Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero recorded 42 home runs and 101 RBIs, joining an exclusive group of players to achieve 40+ home runs and 100+ RBIs within their first four Major League seasons.
