Croat leaders demand legitimate representation in Bosnia and Herzegovina elections

Croatian political leaders and diplomats are calling for the protection of legitimate Croat representation in Bosnia and Herzegovina ahead of upcoming elections. Mario Karamatić, president of the HSS, has urged all Croat-aligned parties to adhere to the conclusions of the Croatian National Assembly (HNS) BiH. He stated that Croat parties intend to block the establishment of government if Bosniak voters once again elect a Croat member of the Presidency against the will of the Croat electorate.

In Jajce, Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman expressed hope that the elections would correct historical injustices regarding the equality of the three constituent peoples as outlined in the Dayton Agreement. He noted that in previous elections, the Croat member of the Presidency was elected primarily through Bosniak votes, bypassing the majority will of Croat voters. Grlić Radman voiced support for Darijana Filipović, the HDZ BiH candidate, emphasizing the need for politically responsible leadership.
