Balkan region faces unstable weather with rain, thunderstorms and cooler temperatures

Meteorological services across the Balkans have issued alerts for a period of unsettled weather. In Croatia, the DHMZ warned of strong thunderstorms, heavy rain and gusty winds, issuing an orange warning for the Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik areas and limiting traffic on coastal roads. Similar conditions are forecast for the central and southern Adriatic, with possible urban flooding in coastal towns.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute expects mostly cloudy skies, scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday, accompanied by a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures. Forecasts also warn of local hail and strong gusts that could affect outdoor activities and road safety.

Serbia’s weather service predicts a shift from dry, warm mornings to variable cloud cover with rain, thunderstorms and the occasional hailstorm, particularly in the western and central regions. Strong winds and isolated hailstones have already caused damage to crops and minor infrastructure in some villages.

Overall, the region will see a cooling trend over the next few days, with daytime highs falling into the mid‑20s °C in most inland areas and a gradual return to clearer skies by the weekend.
