Croatia announces housing support for young families and farmers

The Croatian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has announced a support program for 2026 aimed at improving housing conditions for young families in rural areas with fewer than 6,000 inhabitants. The state program is designed to supplement existing local government housing measures. Under this initiative, the Ministry can provide additional funding equal to 100 percent of the amount already allocated by a local municipality.

Funds can be used for the purchase, construction, or renovation of residential properties. Priority is given to young farmers who have been registered in the Register of Farmers or Family Farms for at least one year and where the head of the household is under 40 years of age.

In alignment with these national efforts, the City of Zlatar has opened a public call for young families and farmers. The local program includes financial assistance for purchasing land or buildings, as well as funds for the adaptation and investment in existing residential properties. Applications for the Zlatar program are accepted until September 30, 2026.
