Croatia commemorates Croatian Veterans Day
Various commemorations were held across Croatia to mark Croatian Veterans Day, honoring those who participated in the Homeland War.
In Hodošan, representatives of the VETERAN Society visited the local cemetery to pay respects to Zvonko Zrna, a Croatian Army officer who fell during Operation Una in 1995. The visit included lighting candles and a moment of silence to honor his sacrifice.
In Brestovac, the day was marked by ceremonies involving members of the 6th Battalion of the Croatian Army, known as the Brestovac Battalion. The event included wreath-laying, lighting candles at a memorial for seven fallen soldiers, and a Holy Mass led by Rev. Mario Rašić. The commemorations highlighted the historical significance of October 29, 1990, when local volunteers were first issued automatic weapons to organize the defense of the region.
