Croatia cuts retail fuel prices after adjusting excise taxes

The Croatian government approved two regulatory amendments to curb rising energy costs. The excise tax on gasoline was raised by €0.03 per litre and on diesel by €0.04 per litre, while subsidies for diesel, blue diesel and propane‑butane were reduced by €0.03‑€0.035 per litre and €0.02 per kilogram, respectively. Using a formula based on the average fuel price of the previous 14 days and capped premiums, the new maximum retail prices are set at €1.54 per litre for both gasoline and diesel (a reduction of €0.03‑€0.05), €0.96 per litre for blue diesel (down €0.10), €1.21 per kilogram for bulk propane‑butane (down €0.08) and €1.79 per kilogram for bottled propane‑butane (down €0.08). The measures aim to protect consumers from price spikes linked to disruptions in the energy market.
