Croatia expands disability and early intervention services

In Međimurje County, the MURID Early Childhood Intervention Center has opened a new, expanded facility to support children with developmental difficulties and those at social risk. The project, valued at approximately 2.59 million euros, includes 41 infrastructure units such as diagnostic rooms, individual therapy offices, and a sensory room. This center is recognized as the first specialized facility for early social services under the Social Welfare Act in Croatia.

Meanwhile, in Požega-Slavonia County, a civic initiative led by the Mali princ Association is seeking administrative oversight following the refusal of local authorities to discuss a petition. The petition, which gathered 9,696 signatures, calls for the urgent establishment of a rehabilitation center for children with developmental disabilities and young people with disabilities. A member of the Croatian Parliament has requested intervention from the Ministry of Justice and Administration to ensure the legal rights of citizens to have such petitions addressed by local representative bodies.
