Croatia forms advisory councils for Dubrovnik civil society and diaspora youth

The City Council of Dubrovnik held the inaugural constitutive session of its Council for the Development of Civil Society. The 26‑member body, chaired by Karolina Matuško with deputy Pavo Jančić, will advise on local strategies, transparent funding of NGOs and cooperation between municipal authorities and civil‑society groups, including access to EU programme funds.

Separately, the Croatian government convened the first session of the Council of Young Croats outside the Republic of Croatia in Zagreb from 21‑24 July 2026. The diaspora‑focused advisory panel, comprising young Croats from Bosnia and Herzegovina, European minority communities and the wider diaspora, will propose initiatives to strengthen Croatian identity, language and cultural ties, and advise on policies affecting youth abroad. The closing ceremony will include elections of a president and four vice‑presidents.
