Croatia hosts major culinary and gastronomic festivals

The 13th Good Food Festival has commenced in Dubrovnik, organized by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. Running until October 18, the festival features special dinners with renowned chefs, workshops, tastings, and musical performances. A central component, ‘Two Weeks of Restaurants’, involves 65 establishments across Dubrovnik, Cavtat, Konavle, Župa dubrovačka, and the Dubrovnik coast, offering specially designed menus at promotional prices.

In Rovinj, the humanitarian gourmet event ‘The Signature Dish: 4 of a Kind’ is scheduled for October 22 at the Cap Aureo Grand Park Hotel. This year’s theme, ‘Science on the Plate – The Fifth Taste: A Mediterranean in Transformation’, explores the intersection of gastronomy and science, specifically addressing how ocean warming and shifting biodiversity affect Mediterranean ecosystems.

Six chefs will present five original interpretations featuring ingredients such as Pacific oysters, blue crab, and boar to illustrate environmental changes. The project is conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Agriculture and Tourism and the Ruđer Bošković Center for Marine Research. Proceeds from the Rovinj event will support the ‘Vazmoslav Gržalja’ elementary school in Buzet.
