Balkan summer and autumn festivals 2026

Overview

The Western Balkans’ festival and cultural season continued through early September 2026. In Montenegro, Budva reported a surge in tourism, while Cetinje prepared for the ‘Rijeka doživljaja’ event on 6 September. Podgorica is set to host the 41st International Alternative Theatre Festival (FIAT). In Slovenia, upcoming September events include ‘Promenada okusov’ in Velenje, the Europark Maribor 26th anniversary, and Radio Študent’s 26th Club Marathon.

In Croatia, cultural activities expanded through community and art-focused initiatives. The Association of Persons with Disabilities of Koprivnica-Križevci County organized the 30th meeting of persons with disabilities alongside the 18th Ješkovo art colony at Art Centar Ješkovo. In Šibenik, the SHIP festival is hosting 50 performers from 26 countries and over 100 speakers. The music scene is preparing for an autumn season; the renovated Pogon kulture in Rijeka will host various events through November.
