Croatia implements digital population register and new treasury bills
Croatia is implementing several significant administrative and financial measures. The government is introducing the Central Population Register (SRS), a major digital transformation project designed to provide up-to-date, digitally accessible data. The SRS aims to streamline public services, reduce the need for in-person visits to government offices, and assist local and regional authorities in planning public policies through more accurate household and citizenship data.
Simultaneously, the Ministry of Finance has announced a new round of treasury bill subscriptions for citizens. The state aims to raise 1.75 billion euros through this initiative. Citizens can purchase three-month treasury bills with an annual yield of 2.75 percent. Subscriptions for individuals begin on September 7 and run until September 14, 2026. The bills are sold at a discount; for example, a nominal value of 1,000 euros can be purchased for 993.19 euros, with the full amount payable upon maturity on December 17, 2026.
