Croatia digital administration transformation
Overview
Croatia is undertaking significant digital transformation initiatives within its public administration. In August 2026, the Ministry of Justice, Administration and Digital Transformation announced a 3.53 million euro project to upgrade the NIAS system. This project, scheduled to run through March 2029, aims to improve the security, reliability, and accessibility of electronic services while enabling cross-border interoperability via the eIDAS framework.
Following this, the government moved toward further administrative modernization by introducing the Central Population Register (SRS). This digital register is designed to provide up-to-date, accessible data to streamline public services and assist regional authorities in policy planning.
