Croatia implements housing and land programs for young families
Local authorities in Croatia are implementing various demographic and social measures to support young families and combat population decline.
In the municipality of Klis, Mayor Jakov Vetma reported that 20 land parcels have been allocated to young families through a program started in 2021. The most recent allocation benefited families with a total of 17 children. Other local initiatives include increased newborn grants ranging from 500 to 1,400 euros, scholarships, and subsidized childcare.
In Zadar County, the “Tu sam rođen” (I was born here) program was highlighted as a model of good practice at a conference in Zagreb. This initiative provides monthly housing loan subsidies for five years, ranging from 210 to 300 euros depending on household size. To date, 33 applications have been approved, supporting various family structures including married couples and single parents.
