Croatia marks 35th anniversaries of Homeland War milestones

Croatia is marking significant anniversaries related to the Homeland War. In Hrvatska Kostajnica, ceremonies were held to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the breakout from the besieged city. On September 12, 1991, approximately 120 Croatian defenders refused to surrender and instead attempted a breakout through Rosulja and Slabinje toward Hrvatska Dubica. While most reached territory under Croatian control, seven individuals lost their lives during the operation.

In Križevci, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Croatian Veterans Tomo Medved presented veteran commendations to various military and police units. This ceremony marks the 35th anniversary of the Battle for the Barracks in Križevci. In September 1991, Croatian forces secured critical military facilities, including the ‘Široko Brezje’ weapons depot and the ‘Kalnik’ barracks, providing essential equipment and ammunition for the national defense.
