Croatia and Bosnia honor veterans through various war commemorations

Various commemorations are being held across Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to honor Croatian veterans of the Homeland War.

In Vitez, the Day of HVO War Decorations Bearers was marked by the presence of high-ranking officials, including Dragan Čović and Darijana Filipović. Filipović emphasized that the veteran generation lived the values of patriotism and sacrifice during the hardest times. The event, held under the auspices of the Croatian National Assembly of BiH, focused on preserving war heritage and the dignity of veterans and their families.

In Croatia, Sisak marked the anniversary of the liberation of the Barutana barracks with a parade and a ceremony honoring those who defended the city. In Bilje, residents observed the 35th anniversary of the tragic events of September 1991, where 11 defenders died and others were captured or killed. Other regional observances included a memorial in Buzet for the 119th Brigade and a sports event for war invalids in Slatina.

In Voćin, a formal session commemorated the municipality's day and honored victims of the war while discussing local infrastructure development.
