Croatia nears completion of 10 billion euro EU recovery plan

Croatia is nearing the completion of its National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NPOO), a major development cycle designed to support the economy following the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, the country has received 7.3 billion euros out of a total 10 billion euros available through the EU NextGenerationEU instrument. This total includes 5.8 billion euros in grants and 4.2 billion euros in loans, representing nearly 13% of the national GDP.

The Croatian government reported a 100% success rate in fulfilling the first eight payment requests. By the end of September, a combined ninth and tenth payment request totaling 2.7 billion euros will be submitted based on 153 remaining indicators. Following evaluations by the European Commission and the EU Economic and Financial Committee, final payments are expected by the end of 2026, coinciding with the official August 31, 2026, deadline for all measures.
