Croatia Parliament debates 38 budget amendments

Members of the Croatian Parliament have submitted a total of 38 amendments to the proposed state budget rebalance, as well as the budgets for Croatian Waters and Croatian Roads.

The ruling Homeland Movement (DP) submitted seven amendments. Key proposals from the DP include requesting 2 million euros for the expansion of the marina in Vukovar, nearly 13 million euros for the Ministry of Agriculture—to be redirected from the Ministry of Culture and Media—to support grain storage and the dairy sector, and 6 million euros for vehicle subsidies for large families. They also proposed redirecting funds from the State Statistical Office and the Agency for Personal Data Protection to support religious institutions, including a Franciscan monastery and local parishes.

The opposition, led primarily by the Social Democratic Party (SDP), submitted 31 amendments totaling approximately 32 million euros. These proposals focus on increasing funding for healthcare, education, student standards, social welfare, and local infrastructure. Specific SDP requests include maintaining funding for the housing of victims of domestic violence.
